Upcoming Performances

Thursday Evening, July 10, 2014 - Mel Martin in duo with bassist/composer Rufus Reid @ The Golden Gate Bass Camp concert series. 9PM @ The Sam Cuddeback Arts Wing at Drew School | 2901 California St @ Broderick in Pacific Heights | San Francisco, CA 94115

I am truly excited to be doing a first time ever duo concert w/ the great Rufus Reid who also happens to be someone I went to high school with! We've performed and recorded together over the years but this will be the first time we've met one on one and made music on such an intimate level. Lots of stories to be told....

Thursday Evening, July 24, 2014 - The Mel Martin Organ Trio featuring WIl Blades - Hammond B3 organ and Jeff Marrs - drums @ Cafe Stritch, 374 S 1st St, San Jose CA 95113 Phone: (408) 280-6161 Presented by Pete Fallico's B3 Organ Series. Sets at 8:30, 10 and 11:30PM.

The debut performance of my B3 organ trio w/ two extraordinary young musicians that I truly enjoy playing with. Some of my earliest years were spent playing many gigs w/ great organ trios like Richard Groove Holmes, Sacramento Jimmie Smith, Merle Saunders and many others. We will be adapting many of my originals and also performing some things I've recorded over the years as well as some great Jazz standards. This will be BIG fun!

Thursday Evening, August 14, 2014 -The Mel Martin Band @ The SFJazz Center. A special tribute to Joe Henderson performing the music from his first recording"Page One" on Blue Note Records. Featuring Mel Martin - tenor saxophone, Erik Jekebsen - trumpet, Mark Levine - piano, Robb Fisher - bass and Jeff Marrs - drums.

We'll be christening the Joe Henderson Lab w/ the first of four consecutive events there featuring the music of Joe Henderson.

Sunday Afternoon, August 6, 2014 - Mel Martin with Bill Champlin and an All-Star Band including Peter Welker - trumpet, Garth Weber -guitar, Kevin Hayes - drums, Cliff Hugo - bass and more!

A reprise of our succesful performance last Summer!
