Saturday, January 7, 2012 - MEL MARTIN and the Benny Carter Tribute Band will be performing at the third JEN Conference in Louisville, KY 6:00pm-6:50pm Location: Visions Stage Personnel will be Mel Martin on tenor, soprano saxes and flute, Bobby Watson on alto, Don Friedman on piano, Steve Kirby on bass and Jeff Marrs on drums. Due to a medical condition, Kevin Mahogany will not be singing with us at JEN. We hope to have him as a special guest for future engagements.

This is an all new edition of the popular band formed in 2007 to celebrate the Centennial Birthday of Jazz great Benny Carter. We will be celebrating his Centennial+5 in 2012 and launching this great ensemble at the esteemed JEN Conference. We will be performing many great Carter compositions as well as originals done with a forward lookng sensibility. NOT TO BE MISSED!

January 19-21, 2012 - MEL MARTIN will be appearing at the NAMM show. I will be doing a Yanagisawa Saxophone demonstration in conjunction with Marshall McDonald from the Count Basie Orchestra at 2PM on Friday and Saturday, January 20-21 at the Conn-Selmer Booth. We will be answering questions about the Yanagisawa line of Saxophones including the newly configured line of tenors and signing authographs. I can also be found at the D'addario (Rico Reeds) booths.
